Thursday, Feb. 9, 1899 -- Havilo Lofland, at his home 5 miles No. of this city on the   Monon RR was suddenly stricken with heart trouble and died before   a physician could be summoned to his side. The funeral occurred   from the home on Sat. afternoon at 2 o'clock. Havilo Lofland was   b. in 1818 and was accordingly 81 years old at the time of his death. His wife d. about a year ago. He leaves 5 children: Mrs.   Al Clark; Mrs. Milt Clark of this County; Mrs. Purdem of Iowa and Misses Julia and Katie Lofland, who lived with their father on the home place at the time of his death. Mr. L. was one of the best known farmers of the County and his death ends a long and useful life.

Heverlo Lofland, aged 84 years died at his home four miles north of this city on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock of Bright’s disease. Mr. Lofland was an old and well known citizen of Union Township.  The funeral occurred today at 2 o’clock.  Services by Rev. McDaniel.
